How It Works in Waterloo

We come out on your garbage day after your cans have been emptied, clean them at the curb, and go. You don’t need to be home. You don’t need to set anything up. Your cans just need to be out and accessible.

Our truck uses a high-pressure hot water system to wash, sanitize, and deodorize both your garbage can and your green organics can. The dirty water is captured in a closed-loop filtration system and reused — nothing goes into the storm drain or down your street. We use biodegradable products safe for kids and pets.

Both cans are included in the $20. That’s it.

Why Now

The green organics can goes out every single week. That frequency is by design — organic waste breaks down fast and the Region wants it moving. But it also means food scraps, meat packaging, and bag residue are going into that can week after week. It builds up at the bottom. In spring it’s barely noticeable. By the time a Waterloo summer has been at it for a few months, the lid is trapping heat and what’s inside has had plenty of time to become a real problem.
